Extend Policy Enforcement to Custom Applications with NextLabs Data-Centric Security
Many large organizations have authorization and access control needs that cannot sufficiently be met with off-the-shelf solutions, so they build their own homegrown applications.
NextLabs Software Development Kit (SDK) Enforcer enables the integration of applications into the NextLabs authorization management platform. Through the Application Enforcer Software Development Kit, organizations can implement and enforce access control, governance, and compliance policies for their custom applications, just as they can for their custom applications, just as they can for their commercial applications – effectively making NextLabs a centralized policy enforcement platform.
Key Capabilities
- Externalized authorization management
- Integration with several different programming languages
- Granular data access control
- Simple policy creation
- Risk analysis
- Internet scale
Why Use SDK Enforcer?
- Simplify Access Control Administration – Externalized authorization management simplifies and reduces administration time for access control policies.
- Streamline Risk Analytics – Audit and reporting are centralized rather than handled applications by application.
- Expedite Application Development – Development moves faster when authorization is provided by the platform, enhancing business agility.
- Lower Total Cost of Ownership– The existing NextLabs platform is extended to include custom applications.
- Reduce the Cost of Compliance – Data monitoring and audit become more efficient.
How It Works
SDK Enforcer implements attribute-based access controls and Application Enforcer into key application – both homegrown and third-party commercial. Homegrown applications, integrate through the APIs of the associated SDKs, using the authorization capabilities of the NextLabs policy decision point directly. Third-party commercial applications use a Policy Enforcement Point (PEP) add-on that interfaces with the Policy Engine (PE) and the CloudAz policy platform, performing authorization checks based on user activities and enforcing the decisions of the Policy Decision Point (PDP). Code samples, tutorials, and testing tools are included for developing and testing the integration.
Available SDKs – Java, JavaScript, C and C++, and C# and .NET each have a dedicated SDK; PHP and cloud services use the REST API; Microsoft COM uses the C++ SDK; and ABAP/SAP uses the SAP JCo SDK.
Deploy Across Commercial and Custom Applications
When a new business requirement or regulation calls for a policy to be created or updated, the change is made centrally rather than inside each custom application – removing the expense that otherwise limits how rapidly an organization can respond in a dynamic business environment.
