NextLabs Product Update – June 2023

Summary for Data Access Enforcer (DAE) line of products

Powered by NextLabs’ CloudAz Zero Trust Unified Policy Platform with the Dynamic Authorization policy engine, Data Access Enforcer (DAE) – NextLabs’ Data Access Security solution, allows companies to dynamically enforce policies independent of application, UI, API, Microservice, batch job, and application function; regardless of how the data is being accessed.

DAE is NextLabs’ implementation of Data Access Service Edge (DASE), which expands Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) to applications and data with Zero Trust principles. SASE is a model introduced by Gartner in 2019 to combine network and security capabilities as a service, based on the identity of device or entity, and real-time context. DASE utilizes policy and attribute-based access controls (PBAC & ABAC) with dynamic authorization technologies to evaluate risks and mitigate threats to critical business applications and data repositories within the network and in the cloud – see the list of applications and data repositories below.

DAE’s unique capability to automate and enforce access and protect sensitive data with dynamic policy enables organizations to control access to and protect critical data through fine-grained data-level security controls, such as dynamic data masking, obfuscate data at rest with FPE, and data segregation techniques.

NextLabs recently added more integration and certification of its DAE product line for use with many more enterprise software products, allowing customers to quickly and easily deploy DAE with those products. This extends DAE’s plug and play capabilities that allow customers to deploy DAE with zero code required for deployment or maintenance.

Enterprise software products that DAE is now certified to work with now include:

  • SAP S/4HANA 2022
  • SAP MDG
  • SAP Analytics Cloud
  • SAP BW
  • SAP BW/4HANA
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • SAP Crystal Reports
  • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Oracle SQL Developer
  • SAP HANA Studio
  • IBM Cognos
  • Quest Toad
  • Teradata SQL Assistant
  • Qlik Sense and QlikView
  • Tableau
  • TIBCO Spotfire
  • Talend Open Studio
  • Sisense
  • RapidMiner Studio

In addition to certifying DAE to work with more enterprise software products, NextLabs has deepened its integration with OpenText Voltage Secure Data and its support for masking data at rest using Format Preserving Encryption (FPE). With FPE, data can be encrypted where it is stored in the database using either a built-in FPE library included with DAE, or through out-of-the-box integrations with 3rd party encryption technologies such as Voltage Secure Data. With the FPE data masking, DAE allows organizations to:

  • Encrypt data at rest, preventing unauthorized direct access of sensitive data and complying with relevant regulations
  • Dynamically unmask data at the time of data access request for authorized users to show the original data values
  • Mask data using encryption while preserving the format, maintaining integrations that depend on the format and preventing unauthorized users from knowing that data has been masked.

In addition to the recent certifications and integration with OpenText’s Voltage Secure Data, NextLabs continues to make improvements to all products in the DAE product line, including:

  • SAP S/4HANA ERP and Business Suite of products
  • SAP HANA
  • SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)
  • Oracle DBMS, Oracle Cloud Database, and AWS RDS for Oracle
  • PostgreSQL
  • Windows
  • Linux
  • BigQuery
  • Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server, and Google Cloud SQL for SQL Server
  • Microsoft Azure Data Lake
